Discussion 60 Hz vs 120 Hz vs 240 Hz

What is the need of 120 hearts or 240 hz of refresh rate as all the channels of India are providing with their channel in 60 hertz refresh rate?? It will be same in 60 hz or 120 hz or 240 hz TV as the original video is captured by a 60 hz camera and it is broadcast in 60 hz. Am I correct?
