The online retail industry is braced for a possible 1% tax on each sale made by sellers on their platforms from April if the proposal is approved by parliament next month.

The tax would apply to the income of drivers on ride hailing firms such Uber and Ola as well as sales on restaurant aggregators including Zomato and Swiggy.

New Delhi expects to collect about 30 billion Indian rupees ($419.46 million) through the tax, the Finance Ministry said. It will also provide data on billions of dollars in sales.

If funds are not enough to run govt then they should find ways to tax us, that's how govt of any country works. (y)
If it is like that then how a lot of scams happened every year??
The fact is that they want to loot common people heavily.

So they suggest us to pay by cash..
Bro They are putting too many restrictions on the cash transactions too..

Excellent move. This encourages customers to both use local offline businesses and help government collect a good amount taxes which we need to tackle slow growth of the economy.

Since only few of entire population in India pays income tax, they are finding other ways to tax whole country and try to abolish income tax may be..

Not whole country purchases the product online. Most probably they are the salaried class people who already shell out more than 37% of their salary as direct and indirect taxes. So this is looting.

This BJP government is spineless and they are selling all the government entities to private which are running in profit.
Many People don't like the attitude of government entity workers, so if they convert that to private entity they were not happy with government. I think we have given 5 year mandate to one government so wait and watch the outcome of it, hopefully they will do good for the country
