Good News Review of New Airtel Xstream AirFiber Connection: Installation, Hardware, Performance & Experience

Hi Guys,

I recently decided to upgrade my office’s internet connectivity and opted for Airtel AirFiber (also known as Airtel Xstream Fiber). After a thorough evaluation of my needs, including consistent speed and reliability, I decided to make the switch from my previous local ISP’s wired OFC FTTH connection. There was only a few options available, one being Jio Air Fiber, and BSNL FTTH. While Airtel does provide wired OFC FTTH connections at a few select location in my city, it depends upton feasibility.

Here’s my experience so far.

Plan and Pricing:

I selected the 4-month plan, which cost Rs. 499 + GST per month for 40 mbps @ unlimited without any OTT /TV benefits, totaling approximately Rs. 588 for each month, or Rs. 2,355 for the entire four-month period. This plan provides good value for my office requirements. The installation and hardware were provided free of charge with this long-term pack.

Connection Type:

It’s worth noting that this connection is a postpaid connection. Surprisingly, the sales representative was unsure about the connection type, which led to a bit of confusion at first, where he said it was prepaid. Despite that, the installation process was smooth and completed within less than 24 hours of booking.

The activation, however, took about 12 hours instead of the usual 1 hour due to some delays in backend reporting by the installation team. Despite this minor delay, the overall experience was hassle-free.

Hardware Overview:

Outdoor Unit (ODU):

The Outdoor Unit (ODU) is a 5G-capable antenna, which is designed to be installed in an open location. It doesn't require placement on the roof or terrace, as it can pick up strong 5G signals from almost any outdoor space. The ODU is powered by a Qualcomm 5G chip, ensuring stable and fast connectivity. It also features two IMEI numbers and dual LAN ports capable of supporting speeds of up to 1 Gbps. The overall booting time is approx 3 minutes, and internet access is available instantly.

Indoor Unit (IDU):

The Indoor Unit (IDU) is the Nokia Beacon 3.2, equipped with WiFi 6 technology. It’s a dual band router and also uses a Qualcomm WiFi chip, ensuring efficient coverage within the office. Notably, the router supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), which means the ODU can be powered directly via the Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for a separate power connection for the ODU. There is one Ethernet Input port (for the cable that comes form the ODU) and two LAN Output ports, WPS button, reset button and power point.

The IDU is powered by a 12w adaptor, also included a wall mount stand.

Performance:

I conducted a speed test after installation, and the results were consistent with the plan I selected. I am consistently getting speeds between 38-40 Mbps, which is what I expected based on the chosen plan. I will be testing the ping speeds in the coming days and will provide an update here.

Backup Connection:

Despite the promising performance of Airtel AirFiber, I have kept my previous wired OFC FTTH connection as a backup. This is due to the occasional speed fluctuations and downtimes I experienced with the previous provider, which caused some inconvenience at the office. The Airtel connection seems stable so far, but I prefer having a fallback option for peace of mind.

Expectations and After-Sales Support:

As I continue to monitor the performance of Airtel AirFiber over the next few months, I remain hopeful for a seamless experience. I look forward to experiencing the full range of services, including customer support, and will share any updates on those aspects in the future.

Conclusion:

I still have to check 4K video streaming to check how it performs on Youtbe or any other video streaming apps.

So far, Airtel AirFiber has proven to be a solid choice for my office's internet needs. The quick installation, reliable hardware, and stable speeds have impressed me. I hope that the performance continues to meet my expectations and that the after-sales support is as good as Airtel’s reputation suggests.

I will keep this post updated over time as I test out the connection further. If anyone else is considering this service, feel free to reach out with questions, and I’ll be happy to share more insights.

Seeking Help Tata Cliq & Tata Cliqsurance fraud

I purchased an Android Smart TV in March 2022 with a 1-year manufacturer warranty and an additional 2-year extended warranty from Tata Cliqsurance.

Recently, my TV started showing dark circle spots. When I reached out to TataCliq, they directed me to the Cliqsurance team, stating that they handle post-purchase claims. However, when I contacted Cliqsurance, they couldn’t find my details in their database, rejected my claim, and asked me to check with TataCliq, claiming they never received the source information.

I have tried resolving this through multiple support calls, including conference calls and emails, but nothing has worked. With only 10 days left before my warranty expires—and considering I first contacted them on January 20th—what should I do next?

Seeking Help Shifting from BSNL to Airtel or Jio AirFiber as their optical fiber unavailable. Whether AirFiber is more reliable?

I am facing issues with BSNL FTTH since some time (i use the same at home), speeds get reduced to half and sometimes as low as 5-6 mbps, and it resolves on its own but takes time.

Also there is no added OTT advantage, and its not easy to change packs as well, as compared to Jio/Airtel one can change packs from app itself.

Seeking Help Paytm (My Last Transaction was still in processing)

Hi guys, yesterday i had paid my TNEB bill on Paytm, but still transaction has not been completed, still in processing even after one day, and this was the first time that I am facing issue like this with Paytm, whenever I paid TNEB bill, transaction will be completed within in few minutes, but this time this was taking more then usual time. 😐

What's the difference in the ODU equipment provided by Jio AirFiber and Airtel AirFiber?

Hi Guys,

I wanted to know what is the difference in the ODU equipment provided by Jio Air Fiber and Airtel Air Fiber ???

I guess ODU provided by Airtel is smaller in size as compared to Jio’s.

The question I have is that, can Jio’s ODU be installed in balcony or anywhere open outdoor areas of apartment even not in line of sight with tower ???

As Airtels ODU can be installed anywhere outdoors irrespective of LOS.

Thanks

Seeking Help Fastag of 1st Owner in Hotlisted state

My uncle is trying to buy a Skoda car from the 2nd owner of the car who has been using it for the past 3 years.

When we checked the status of the Fastag it shows 3 Fastags

1. Paytm (1st Owner) - Closed
2. NHAI indusInd (1st Owner) - Hotlisted
3. HDFC (2nd Owner) - Closed (On Dec 31 2024 as musltiple fastag for the vehicle)

When I contacted the Fastag Customer Care they are saying since Fastag 2 is in Hotlist mode the 3rd Fastag is closed and we can't open further Fastags till the 2nd one is closed after removing Hotlist by completing KYC.

However the 1st Owner who sold the car 3 years back, when he tried doing KYC shows name mismatch error.

Any idea on how this issue can be resolved?

Seeking Help Airtel Xstream Fiber connection with Android box without DTH

I'm planning to get an Airtel 200 Mbps fiber connection.
I don't need fixed DTH connection or live TV; OTT content is sufficient for me.
If Airtel launches IPTV in the future, I might consider that.
I don't have an Android TV; I'm using regular monitor.
Can I get the Xstream Android box with 999 fiber plan without DTH and without paying a security deposit? I'm willing to pay 3x or 6x in advance.
But I don't want to pay extra ₹100 for ₹1099 Black plan.

Good News Booked a new Airtel Xstream Air Fiber Connection

Hi Guys,

So I have booked a new Airtel Xstream Air Fiber connection today for office. The issue is that regular Fiber is not available in my city Panaji, Goa. They are only providing AirFiber connection everywhere. Will provide reasons below.

It’s for office use and hence existing FTTH was from a local ISP. Was paying approx ₹700 per month for 100 mbps speed. Also frequent disconnection happening and customer support is not that great.

Felt it was waste as were not utilising 100 mbps at all and since it’s for basic office usage.

Was confused whether to go for Jio air Fiber or Airtel Xstream air Fiber, finally, we decided to go for Airtel Xstream AIR Fiber (Airtel WiFi as they call it).
The salesperson showed a demo of the 5G speeds on his smart phone, which is going to approx 300 Mbps indoors on Airtel 5G network.

Opted for the base plan as of now that is prepaid ₹499 @40 mbps unlimited. Paid for 4 months for ₹2355 with free installation and hardware.

Now coming to why we planned to shift. There is no other FTTH ISP apart from BSNL Fiber and a few local ISP. I am already using BSNL at my home and wanted to try something new.

Also due to the smart city works happening there are disconnections happens for most of ISP due to digging works and renovation of footpaths etc. also the over head cables which are installed have to be removed as per the govt guidelines to make the city much better looking. They have made provisions for underground cabling but have to see which ISP will use it as it’s a very big task.

Upon enquiring I got to know that Airtel Xstream fiber is available since 3 years in my city. @Bapun bro has asked me why I didn’t go for Airtel and instead BSNL at home.

Pls provide your feedback on this if it’s the right choice. Thanks
