Seeking Help Seeking review on Tata Play Fiber in South Bangalore. How is the experience and list of TV channels that we get?

Hello Friends, I currently have one broadband fiber connection from a local service provider. It is not little cumbersome as I need to pay the local vendor account rather than directly paying to ISP. Plus no OTT benefits nor any TV channels. I'm paying ₹808/month for 100mbps including taxes.

I have Airtel Airfiber, Act Broadband and Tata Play Fiber in my area. No Airtel Fiber.
I'm planning to shift to Tata Play. It is offering 100mbps for ₹885/month + 4 OTT apps of our choice + some tv channels(not sure which all channels will be available. Appreciate if someone can give details on channels and well). Also, any inputs on how is the service of Tata Play on South Bangalore? Appreciate any inputs.

Seeking Help How to get Airtel AirFiber with DTH instead of IPTV?

Today I requested installation of Airtel Airfiber with Xstream box(Supporting ODU) but the installation guy told me that only IPTV box is available now and non-IPTV xstream box is discontinued.I don't want IPTV box as I want to move away from Jio Airfiber due to 1TB limit and I have to recharge data topups every month.
I have an Airtel HD box and I talked to airtel CC to upgrade it to Xstream box (ODU model) and they told me that it is available to upgrade and took my request.Dont know why they are forcing now for IPTV box only with Airfiber.

Good News Bought a New Airtel Xsteam FIber (OFC) Connection - Review

Hi everyone,

Wanted to share my experience after recently getting a new Airtel Xstream Fiber (FTTH) connection installed at my home.

After a long wait, I finally got the connection installed. :)

Plan & Booking:

I opted for the base plan of ₹499/month (plus taxes), which offers 40 Mbps speed with unlimited data (FUP of 3333 GB/month which is more than enough for me).
I chose the 4-month advance payment option during booking — total amount paid was ₹2355 (including taxes).
The booking was done directly from the nearby Airtel Store. They completed the KYC process in-store itself (Aadhaar verification and photo).

Installation Experience:

Installation was surprisingly fast — within 24 hours of booking, the technician came and completed the setup.
Fiber line was drawn neatly from the nearest junction box to my house. The technician was professional and explained the basic features of the ONT (modem-router).

ONT / Router Model Provided:

I was provided with an Airtel-branded ONT — Model No: H660GM-A

This ONT has dual-band WiFi (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), decent range for a small/medium-sized house. I'm not sure if it's the latest or best model, but so far it works well for my usage — browsing, YouTube, OTT streaming, and mobile usage.

Fiber to ONT Setup:

The fiber line comes in through a small fiber converter box. The setup was clean and professionally done.

Future Plans:

Currently, I’m not opting for Airtel Black or IPTV add-ons, as I already have a separate DTH connection. Will consider upgrading in the future if required.

Final Verdict:

  • Quick installation (within 24 hours)
  • Decent ONT provided
  • Good speed stability on the base plan
  • Easy booking & KYC process at Airtel Store
  • Affordable pricing (₹499 plan suits light-medium usage)
  • ONT model provided depends on availability (can't choose specific model)

Conclusion:

Overall, I’m satisfied with Airtel Fiber for my usage scenario. For someone looking for a reliable broadband connection for home with reasonable pricing, Airtel’s FTTH 499 plan is definitely worth considering.

Good News TCL IPTV service through TCL channel Live TV inbuilt App

Recently bought an Android Smart TV after thorough research of 2 months for my usage. Purchased TCL QLED Smart TV which has integrated Free live TV channels across the genres.

Further explore realized it has exact same channels which are available in Distro TV app.

So far it has 3 Kannada channels with 140 to 150+ channels across genre..

TV 9 Kannada
Asianet Suvarna News
Nakshatra Digital

If they onboard more regional Free channels, it could potentially compete with Jio OS TV market.

Discussion Guide- Using an IP Phone with Airtel Fiber (VoIP Setup)

If you've ditched Airtel’s default ONU and are now using an SFP or a third-party ONU, you can still set up an IP phone to make unlimited calls over Airtel Fiber.

Airtel uses two VLANs:

  • VLAN 100 – For internet
  • VLAN 660 – For voice services

In most areas (99%), this setup is standard, except in locations with an ALCL OLT, where VLANs might differ. However, you can easily perform a VLAN scan to determine the correct VLAN IDs in your region.

  1. VoIP Credentials– These can be extracted from your Airtel-provided router.
    • If you have a ZTE or Nokia router from Airtel, the credentials are visible in the VoIP section.
    • If you have a different router, you may need to inspect the webpage's elements to extract them
    • MMk60v4.jpeg

    • bSEKeyn.jpeg
    • IP Phone – The cheapest models start at around ₹1,500.
    • A Managed Switch (optional) – Required for VLAN segregation if your router doesn’t support multiple VLANs on the WAN port.
  2. Segregate VLANs– You need to send:
    • VLAN 100 to your router (where PPPoE or static IP is dialed).
    • VLAN 660 to your IP phone for VoIP services.
  3. Example Setup (Using a Managed Switch)
    • Port 10 → SFP (HSGQ) untagged/transparent VLAN
    • Port 9 → Tagged with VLAN 100, connects to the WAN port of your router (Ubiquiti/TP-Link/MikroTik/PFsense).
    • Port 8 → Tagged with VLAN 660, connects to the VoIP phone, where you enter the credentials.
  4. mCv7czq.jpeg
  5. Final Steps
    • Configure your router to dial the internet using PPPoE/static settings.
    • Enter the VoIP credentials into your IP phone.
    • Done! Your VoIP phone should now work seamlessly.

The overall idea came from Ubiquiti forums. If you use OpenWRT, MikroTik, or TP-Link devices, the setup is straightforward.
  • Ideally, Ubiquiti should support multiple VLAN tagging on the WAN port, but since it doesn’t, a TP-Link managed switch was used for VLAN segregation.
  • If using MikroTik or OpenWRT, VLAN handling can be done within the main router itself (where the SFP is plugged in).

Good News Bought Airtel Xstream Fiber Black (Fiber + IPTV) connection with AOT-5221ZY (wifi 6) ONT

Today, after quite some time of wait, I got Airtel Fiber installed with Airtel Black bundled subscription plan (Fiber + IPTV) connection. 🎉

I have chosen the 200 Mbps speed plan. So far the connection seems to be working well. I have paid Rs. 2500 as the booking amount which will be adjusted with upcoming bills. Installation is free and hardware is provided with the connection as long as we keep the connection active.

I chose the newly launched AOT-5221ZY (wifi 6) ONT because the Nokia ONT was out of stock. Apart from this Dasan ONT was available which the installer recommended against. I plan to switch to Nokia ONT once it comes back in stock.

Overall, the connection and browsing experience feel snappier than JioFiber. (y)

Let me know if you guys have any questions, I will try answering them. :)

HDFC Millennia Debit Card Cashback on Wallet Load - Clarifications Needed

I have a few queries regarding the HDFC Millennia Debit Card and its 1% cashback offer on wallet loads. I would appreciate it if you could provide some clarification:

Eligibility for Wallet Load Cashback:

Does the HDFC Millennia Debit Card currently offer the 1% cashback benefit for wallet loads?
Specifically, is "POS xxxx 1234 Amazon Pay India" considered an eligible merchant for this cashback offer?

Transaction Details and Cashback Calculation:
I performed two Amazon Pay wallet load transactions:
₹40,000 on March 28th
₹40,000 on April 3rd
Am I eligible for ₹400 cashback for each transaction (₹400 + ₹400)?
Is there a 30-day interval required between eligible transactions to receive cashback, or are both my transactions eligible?

Cashback Credit Timeline:
If I am eligible for the cashback, what is the expected timeline for the cashback to be credited to my account for the transactions on:
March 28th
April 3rd
