After his adventures with Venom, Tom Hardy returns to the small screen in a crime drama as fixer Harry Da Souza. He finds himself caught in the crossfire between the Harrigans and the Stevensons, two warring London crime families vying for power. With Guy Ritchie’s involvement, the show’s tone closely resembles his previous works. However, the first two episodes, despite featuring a large ensemble, have yet to develop much depth in any of the characters.

In the first two episodes of the show, we are introduced to the Harrigan family heads, Meave (Helen Mirren) and Conrad (Pierce Brosnan), along with their fixer, Harry. Harry is called upon when Conrad’s grandson is the last person seen with the son of rival mob boss Richie Stevenson (Geoff Bell), who goes missing after a physical altercation with someone in a pub. He has his work cut out for him, as his family will soon be dragged into the conflict by Richie, who is determined to get his son back.

When it comes to the writing, the series fails to establish proper backstories for the lead characters and their motivations. At least in the first two episodes I’ve seen, the storyline is fairly predictable. However, the show truly excels when Harry is front and center, engaging in meaningful interactions with other lead characters. A well-defined cause for the rivalry could have added more depth and intensified the drama amid the chaos. The first two episodes, directed by Guy Ritchie, showcase his signature style, which is a major plus for the series. However, the background score is not particularly pronounced. Tom Hardy shines as Harry, especially in his interactions with Richie (Geoff Bell). Pierce Brosnan, Geoff Bell, and Helen Mirren are captivating in their respective roles.

As Richie says in the show, ‘Enough is not good enough.’ The series has the potential to deliver much more in the upcoming episodes and make a lasting mark on the small screen. The first two episodes are set to premiere on JioHotstar in India on March 31, 2025, with subsequent episodes releasing weekly.
