Reliance Jio hikes tariff by up to 25 percent; launches two new services

India’s leading telecommunications service provider, Reliance Jio, has announced up to 25 percent tariff hike on its telecom plans for both prepaid and postpaid users. Alongside this increase, the company has also introduced two new services- JioSafe and JioTranslate. Furthermore, Jio has clarified that JioBharat and JioPhone users will not be affected by the tariff hike and can avail of the existing recharge plans.

“The introduction of new plans is a step in the direction of furthering industry innovation and driving sustainable growth through investments in 5G and AI technology. Jio will always put our country and customer first and will continue to invest for India,” said Akash M Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited.

In addition, Jio has also introduced two new services: JioSafe and JioTranslate. The Quantum-secure JioSafe is a communication app that offers calling, messaging, file transfer, and more. The app is priced at Rs. 199 per month. On the other hand, the AI-powered JioTranslate app is a multi-lingual communication app that can translate voice calls, voice messages, text, and images. JioTranslate is priced at Rs. 99 per month. According to the company, Jio users will get these apps, worth Rs. 298 per month, for free for the first year.

The unlimited 5G data will be available on all 2GB per day and above plans. The updated tariff will be effective from July 3, 2024, and will be available from all existing touchpoints and channels, including the Jio website, MyJio app, and Jio Store, as well as third-party recharge merchants, such as Amazon Pay, Google Pay, Paytm, and PhonePe.
