The Honorable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, launched Jio True 5G services in Himachal Pradesh on February 14, 2023. The launch took place in Shimla, and the Jio True 5G services were simultaneously introduced in several other cities of Himachal Pradesh, including Hamirpur, Nadaun, and Bilaspur.
In addition to this, Reliance Jio also announced the launch of its True 5G services in 17 other cities across India. These cities include Ankleshwar and Savarkundla in Gujarat, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Nadaun, and Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, Chhindwara, Ratlam, Rewa, and Sagar in Madhya Pradesh, Akola and Parbhani in Maharashtra, Bathinda, Khanna, and Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab, Bhilwara, Sri Ganganagar, and Sikar in Rajasthan, and Haldwani-Kathgodam, Rishikesh, and Rudrapur in Uttarakhand. This takes the total count of cities enjoying Jio True 5G to 257.
As part of the Jio Welcome offer, users in these cities will be able to experience 1Gbps+ speed at no additional cost. However, to use 5G on a compatible 5G device, users will need to have a prepaid plan of Rs 239 or higher or a postpaid plan.
Before this launch, Reliance Jio had already introduced its 5G service in some cities across Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The telco had also announced the launch of its 5G services in Bhimavaram, Guntakal, Tenali, Nalco, Ajmer, and Mahabubnagar.
Meanwhile, Airtel is also expanding the rollout of its 5G service in new cities day by day. A few days back, the company introduced its 5G service in four cities of Himachal Pradesh such as Dharamshala, Mandi, and Baddi. The telco already has its 5G service active in Shimla.
