Reliance Jio has launched a new ‘Celebration offer’ for its prepaid subscribers priced at Rs 2999, its first-ever plan with 2.5 GB per day data allotment. Until now the operator has offered plans with 1/1.5/2/3 GB per day data allotments only. This new plan offers 2.5 GB/day with a 365 day validity which takes the total data entitlement to 912.5 GB. The plan offers unlimited voice calling across mobile and fixed lines anywhere in India and 100 SMS/day for local and national area. The plan includes access to Jio TV, Jio Cinema, Jio security and Jio cloud services. It is eligible for 20% Jio Mart cashback offer as well.
Other annual prepaid plans offered by Jio currently include the Rs 2545 plan which until yesterday had a validity of 365 days but from today is back to 336 days validity and a daily data allotment of 1.5 GB. The Rs 2879 plan offers 2 GB/day with 365 days validity while the Rs 3119 plan offers 2 GB/day plus an additional 10 GB of bulk data with a total validity of 365 days and bundled subscription to Disney+ Hotstar mobile plan. The Rs 4199 plan offers a 3 GB/day data allotment with a 365 days validity.
In November last year, Jio had announced a tariff hike of 20% across its tariff plans in effect from 1st December and had allowed subscribers to recharge in advance at the old tariffs and queue the plans for future use. This was in line with the 22-25% tariff hikes by Airtel and Vi. Jio had also launched a Happy new year 2022 offer where it provided 29 days of additional validity for its Rs 2545 plan which was valid till 7th January.
Despite the increase in rates, Jio has kept the price of plans lower than Airtel and Vodafone Idea’s which is expected to continue pricing competition in the industry. The company still has kept its lowest rate for 28 days validity plan at Rs 91 for Jiophone users which is the lowest among private telecom operators. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have increased the entry-level plan with 28 days validity to Rs 99.
