Xiaomi was expected to roll out its latest MIUI 9 last year after alleged screenshots of the custom UI running on Android 7.0 Nougat leaked. The update hasn’t arrived yet, and Xiaomi’s devices are currently running on MIUI 8.2 which was released in February. Xiaomi though confirmed on Weibo that the MIUI 9 will be launching in the second half of this year. While we await the official rollout of the MIUI 9, the company appears to have accidentally leaked two new features to app developers.
The email reveals that the latest MIUI will bring two new features to Xiaomi smartphones, which are split screen and Picture-in-Picture (PIP). Split-screen feature debuted with Android 7.0 Nougat which launched last September. Split screen feature essentially allows people to use two apps at the same time.
