The Xiaomi Mi 5c, codenamed Xiaomi Meri, has been .rumored for quite some time now. Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone is expected to launch very soon. While rumors and leaks surrounding the Xiaomi Mi 5c have been very frequent now but without much official confirmation, a recent report suggested that Xiaomi would be launching the Mi 5c smartphone on November 30. Evidently, it didn’t happen. But now another report says that the smartphone could be launched on December 6 in China.
According to a post on Weibo , Xiaomi is gearing up to launch a new smartphone, most likely the Xiaomi Mi 5c, on December 6. Along with the launch date details, three images of the Mi 5c have also been posted. As spotted by Android Pure, the latest images do resemble the images of the phone leaked earlier. There are three images which show the front and back of the smartphone and the “About Phone” section. The alleged Mi 5c is seen sporting a black color with what is assumed to be a 2.5D glass display. The selfie camera lens is located above the display and the Home button below, which is expected to double as a fingerprint scanner. The rear camera lens of the Mi 5c is located on the top left corner of the smartphone with the Mi logo embedded down below.
The “About Phone” section of the Mi 5c reveals some key specs of the smartphone, which are in line with previous leaks and rumors. The image reveals that the alleged Xiaomi Mi 5c will be powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core processor but the chipset is not known yet. Xiaomi Mi 5c’s chipset has also rumored to be the company’s own Pinecone processor. If this turns out to be true then, the Mi 5c will be the first smartphone to be powered by a Pinecone chipset.
The smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. On the software front, the Mi 5c runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8. Up until now, the Mi 5c has been flooded with rumors and there are reports which suggest that the smartphone would be launched in two variants of 5.2-inch full HD display and 5.5-inch display. Other than that, the Mi 5c has been rumored to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera up front. For connectivity, the Mi 5c will come with NFC support. The smartphone is also said to be available in two color options of black and rose gold.
There have also been reports about the pricing of the Mi 5c. The smartphone is predicted to be priced at RMB 999 which roughly translates to Rs 9,900. The Mi 5c has already been rumored to be an entry-level smartphone which the alleged pricing supports. In other reports, the Mi 5c was priced at Rs RMB 1,499 which is Rs 14,800 approximately. Since Xiaomi has not revealed anything official as yet, it is advised to take this information with a grain of salt. But a smartphone launch seems quite likely within the month of December.
