Chinese handset maker Xiaomi became the second largest smartphone vendor in India, accounting for 14% of shipments in the quarter, up from 3% a year ago. The company shipped 4 million units in the quarter, Singapore-based agency Canalys said in a note.

Samsung maintained its market share, shipping just over 6.0 million units. Sustained J-series shipments to its established offline distribution partners ensured that it stayed on top.
