Battle Royal for Intercontinental Title Shot

Before the match, The Miz welcomes us to the 98th day of his forever reign.

This was not a very good battle royal due to it being slow, predictable, and slow. The final four ended up being Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, Apollo Crews, and Darren Young (making his grand return with Bob Backlund). Corbin eliminated Ziggler rather brutally, eventually leading to Corbin and Apollo eliminating each other in a re-ignition of their NXT feud (never expected to throw a Bad Brains reference in). Who was left? Why, Darren Young.

Darren Young wins the battle royal, earns an Intercontinental Title match at Battleground.

Backstage, Stephanie and Shane McMahon chat about why Vince is appearing on Raw. Shane wants to see someone fired, while Steph wants to see a promotion.

Seth Rollins interrupts (to a pop) saying that Vince wants to talk to him. Seth then informs us that he has exclusive footage of Roman Reigns...for the Rollins Report. Seth promise greatness, and the McMahons are in.

The announce team chats about Brock Lesnar winning at UFC 200. In other news, Randy Orton has a first-class ticket to a Suplex City tour.

Speaking of, Randy Orton will be appearing on the Highlight Reel on Battleground.

Backstage, Zack Ryder walks up to Rusev, turns him around, and challenges him for the United States Title. Right on cue, Sheamus blindsides Ryder, knocking him down. Sheamus then says that Ryder has a match against him next...

________________________________________

Zack Ryder vs Sheamus

This happened. Sheamus wins with a Brogue.

Sheamus def Zack Ryder

As soon as Sheamus won, Rusev came out and beat up Ryder some more, eventually locking in the Coquina Accolade while screaming "I ACCEPT YOUR CHALLENGE!"

Breezango vs Lucha Dragons

This was a very sloppy match that happened. Breezango got the win after Tyler Breeze hit Kalisto with a VERY nasty Supermodel Kick as the ladder was stuck on the turnbuckle facedown (it's hard to explain).

Breezango def Lucha Dragons

Seth Rollins comes out to the ring for the Rollins Report. It is again important to note that Rollins got a big babyface pop.

Tonight, Rollins promises a scoop for us, and this is a snippet of a one-on-one interview between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.

Basically this consists of Rollins asking questions to "Roman Reigns". who really appears in snippets of other interviews. It's about as lame as it sounds.

We return, and Rollins smugly smiles at his accomplishment. Rollins then campaigns for Reigns to be taken out of the triple threat match when Dean Ambrose interrupts.

Ambrose calls what he just saw good - a product of Rollins pulling the stick out of his a** and having fun. Rollins responds by saying that Ambrose's championship reign is a joke since Ambrose stole the title from Rollins.

The truth? Dean Ambrose cannot beat Seth Rollins in a one-on-one match; instead, Ambrose is gung-ho to sticking behind Reigns and betraying him to win.

At Battleground, the question is simple: who's the best member of The Shield? The answer, according to Rollins, is Rollins, and he's gonna take his title back at Battleground. Rollins definitely spit some fire here.

But Ambrose.....Ambrose spit out a volcano's worth of fire. He talked about how he was always the top dog at the end of the day despite other top men going away to do other things (a not-so-concealed barb at Brock Lesnar was embedded in there). Ambrose has spilled blood, broken and lost body parts, and fought relentlessly, but at the end of the day, he is still WWE Champion, and he is willing to defend it anytime, anywhere.

Rollins gets fired up and is about to accept, but says that it won't happen in Detroit; instead, it will happen next week.

(Please note that I did heavily condense Ambrose's promo. You really need to see a video of it as words cannot do it justice.)

After the commercial, Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose for the WWE Championship is officially announced for next week's Raw.

Kevin Owens vs Cesaro

Sami Zayn comes out to the ring for commentary. Owens' music starts, but he doesn't come out. Instead, we cut backstage where he is complaining to refs about an unsafe working environment. Stephanie McMahon comes up and tells the refs to eject Zayn. As Zayn leaves, Owens comes out, words are exchanged, and a brief brawl ensues.

Also before the match starts, we go backstage where Vince McMahon arrives. Renee Young asks him why he's here, and he's here to announce the commissioner of SmackDown. No one knows who it'll be, not even Vince (who may change his mind).

As usual, this was a pretty good match, but you've seen it before. In the end, Owens gets the win with an Argentine neckbreaker from the top rope.

Kevin Owens def Cesaro

Afterward, Owens grams a commentary mic and cuts a "best in the world" promo before Sami Zayn leaps out of the crowd and attacks. Owens is rolled into the ring and eats a swing from Cesaro.

Renee Young interviews The Club about their upcoming match with Enzo & Cass. They make an Unfiltered pun before bringing up the ESPYs and saying "practice" a few times. They then say that after they beat E&C tonight, they're gonna fly to Los Angeles, crash the ESPYs, and..........BEAT UP JOHN CENA!!!

Heath Slater vs Titus O'Neil

SLATER GATOR EXPLODES!!!

This happened. Titus won.

Titus O'Neil def Heath Slater

Sam, whoever you are, you're still a jabroni.

A busy Renee Young interviews Sasha Banks about her upcoming match with Dana Brooke. Sasha is ready and has been waiting to hit Dana for a long time now.

It's time to see what happened when The New Day took a trip to the Wyatt Compound...

And as you'd expect, it's pretty much a 6-man version of The Final Deletion with The Wyatts beating up The New Day.

At the end, The Wyatts and New Day are at a stalemate when a bunch of fireflies light up behind The Wyatts, sending the New Day retreating.

________________________________________

Enzo & Cass vs The Club

Before the match, E&C do their thing before AJ Styles tells them that John Cena doesn't care about them. AJ tells them to talk away, but you know as well as I do that they aren't walking away.

This was a decent match with The Club controlling for most of it. Cass got the hot tag as usual, but was stopped when AJ pulled the top rope down as Cass was running at it. AJ throws Cass over the barricade, causing the disqualification.

Enzo & Cass def The Club by DQ

After, The Club teases destroying Enzo, but John Cena (who supposedly wasn't there) comes out for the save.

________________________________________

Sasha Banks vs Dana Brooke

This was an ok match that went longer than it should have. Sasha reversed a Samoan driver into the Bank Statement to get the win.

Sasha Banks def Dana Brooke

Afterward, Charlotte tells Sasha that she hasn't proven herself. Charlotte tells Sasha that she needs to beat Dana again on SmackDown because reasons.

Shane McMahon comes out to the ring. Stephanie comes out right after he enters the ring.

After Shane and Steph are in the ring, Vince struts on down to the ring.

Vince starts by commending Shane and Steph for doing a great job at running the joint. However, he is a little disappointed in them for not fighting each other to make the other look good.

You see, Vince wants competition, so he tells Steph and Shane to convince them.

Steph mentions the WWE Network, WrestleMania, and numbers. She then goes full McMahon and attacks Shane's character and comments on the podcast and behind Vince's back.

Shane responds by getting the Foley-approved cheap pop before talking about how he represents change, something he'd bring to SmackDown. Shane also says that he is the only person who can speak his mind to Vince without kissing a**.

Of course, Vince doesn't give a damn about what the people think. Vince calls for a drumroll before choosing Shane as the SmackDown commissioner.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! Vince relieves Shane of his Raw duties and gives them to Stephanie.

Vince lays the groundwork down: Shane and Steph are going to compete against each other for the keys to the company. Law breaking may ensue.

But wait, there's even more. Next week, Steph and Shane have to name general managers for their respective shows.

Let the games begin.

But it's not over. Steph tells Shane that she's gonna make him wish he was never born. Shane responds by calling her scared of him winning. Steph slaps Shane and nearly falls during her exit.

Shane thanks Detroit to end.

WWE RAW Results – 7/25/16 (Live from Pittsburgh, fallout from Battleground, new era of RAW begins)

“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.

A video showcases Dean Ambrose pinning Roman Reigns at last night’s WWE Battleground event to retain the WWE Championship. The WWE Championship is on Smackdown Live now.

Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves welcome us to the show. The announcers are situated at the top of the ramp much like Eric Bischoff had them years back. Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon are in the ring. Foley welcomes us to Monday Night RAW. Because we’re in a New Era for WWE, the first episode of the New Era of Monday Night RAW begins tonight, right here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Foley wants to introduce everyone to the entire roster of Monday Night RAW.

The RAW stage has changed a bit. The new RAW roster makes their way to the stage. Foley says as General Manager of Monday Night RAW, he’ll be working hand in hand with the superstars on the stage to bring the most action packed episode of RAW every week. Stephanie says Foley will have full authority to do just that. However, she wants to talk about what happened last night at WWE Battleground in the main event for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (that’s exactly what she called it) when Roman Reigns lost it for everyone. The crowd boos him. Now the WWE World Heavyweight Champion is on Smackdown Live, her brother’s show. Seth Rollins had it in the bag before Reigns screwed it up for everyone. As far as she’s concerned, he’s not a good guy or a bad guy. He’s just a loser. The crowd cheers that. In 1,209 episodes of RAW, there has always been a Heavyweight Champion. The WWE Universe demands a WWE Heavyweight Champion on RAW. The world demands it and by god that’s exactly what they’ll get.

Foley says tonight’s episode of RAW will feature two Fatal Four-Way matches. The winners of those two matches will face each other in the main event of RAW. The winner of that main event match will go on to face Seth Rollins at SummerSlam for the brand new championship title. Foley says the championship title is named for everyone in the WWE Universe. They have decided to call it the WWE Universal Championship. Foley says they’re going to begin with Sami Zayn. The crowd gives him a good hand. Sheamus will also take part in the qualifying matches, as will Chris Jericho. Cesaro will be in it along with Roman Reigns, who gets heavily booed. The United States Champion Rusev will participate. Kevin Owens will be in it as well. The eighth slot goes to their draft pick from NXT, Finn Bálor. Bálor steps out to the center to a great ovation from the crowd. Today is Finn Bálor’s 35th birthday.

Stephanie says the WWE Women’s Champion remains on RAW. Stephanie asks her to step forward. Charlotte comes forward to boos from the crowd. Foley says she was part of an exciting tag team match, but she lost it when she tapped out to Sasha Banks. That’s why she will be defending the WWE Women’s Championship in this very ring against “The Boss,” Sasha Banks. That gets a good round of applause. Stephanie says it will be a historic night for Monday Night RAW. For the eight men in the two Fatal Four-Way matches, they better be ready. The first one will happen right now.
