WWE: Heading Towards John Cena V Brock Lesnar at Summerslam

Last night at Money in the Bank, John Cena won his fifteenth world title in WWE. He's the default option whenever something doesn't go to plan, but still the company's biggest draw and with Summerslam just over a month away, WWE need a main event they can sell. It isn't quite time for Roman Reigns or Cesaro to lead on their own and the likes of Randy Orton and Sheamus just don't quite cut it at the very top of the card anymore. John Cena V Brock Lesnar is the biggest possible match WWE can put on right now. Bryan is injured and going to be out for much longer than anyone thought, CM Punk has embraced retirement and marriage and Triple H has gone back to being a non-wrestling figure over the last month, though he may get his trunks back out for Roman Reigns.

Cena V Lesnar makes sense on every level. It's a genuine attraction and people are going to want to see if Lesnar can become champion, especially after slaying The Undertaker at WrestleMania. WWE have to take advantage of Lesnar's heat before too much time passes and the emotions from that moment in April disappear. The restrictions around Lesnar are the same for every one of his matches, in the fact that he doesn't really want to be there and is interested in nothing but a paycheck. That makes it very hard to sell a bout to fans, especially when it is supposed to be one of the most important matches of the year.

Their last match at Extreme Rules 2012 was one of the best matches both men have had, finish aside, of course. Lesnar is a monster, a destroyer, a legitimately bad man who could probably kill a bear with nothing but his hands, and I think sometimes WWE forget that. Lesnar winning the title would be interesting and at the very least, a change from the norm, which is what's needed in this period of gross stagnation. WWE needs an injection of something and topping off Summerslam with Brock Lesnar versus John Cena might just be it.

yes, but Cena was defeated by The rock, at WM in d previous main event.
If Cena would have lost back to back PPVs, it wud have pushed his image down... thus they made Cena win, all while Lesnar beating d crap out of cena :P
