Microsoft Photos could get renamed to Story Remix in Windows 10 - MSPoweruser

Microsoft appears intent on changing the name of their Windows 10 Photos app, and after beta testing the very poorly received Story Remix name on Windows 10 Insiders, the company appears to have come to its senses and is trying the much more sedate Photos & Videos title.

Windows 10 for PCs build 16278 is now available in the Fast ring - here's what's fixed
  • We fixed an issue where upgrading to recent flights would fail if you had a speech for a secondary language installed.

  • We fixed an issue where printing from 32-bit apps running on 64-bit versions of the OS was broken when using v3 print drivers on recent builds.

  • The ability to take HDR screenshots on your PC via the Xbox app has been removed starting with this build. We plan to re-introduce this feature again in the future.

  • We fixed an issue resulting in drag and drop onto websites intermittently not working in Microsoft Edge.

  • We fixed an issue where Microsoft Edge would crash after choosing to pin certain websites to Start.

  • We fixed an issue where a tab in Microsoft Edge could get in a state where it displayed a tab preview thumbnail even though your mouse wasn’t hovering over the tab.

  • We fixed an issue in Microsoft Edge for certain websites where after watching an embedded video full screen then using Esc to return to the page would result in the video controller no longer being visible.

  • We fixed an issue in Microsoft Edge where pasting an image to Imgur.com from your clipboard wouldn’t work.

  • We fixed an issue where the Emoji Panel’s tooltips could become mixed up.

  • We fixed an issue from recent flights resulting in precision touchpads potentially dropping gestures after coming out of sleep.

  • We fixed an issue where the battery flyout might incorrectly show “PC not charging” while the device was changing in recent builds.

  • We fixed an issue where fonts using shortcuts would become unusable and disappear from the Fonts folder.

  • We fixed an issue resulting in multiple apps crashing in the previous flight if you tried to log into the app using Facebook.

  • We fixed and issue where Delivery Optimization Group Policy / MDM policy for DOMinFileSizeToCache was ignored and the service defaults were used instead.

Alexa allies with Cortana to take on Google Assistant, Siri

Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) and Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) have joined forces to let their voice-controlled virtual assistants talk to each other, offering users the ability to seamlessly tap into work, their homes and shop online.

The partnership is the first time two technology companies open up their artificial intelligence-powered virtual aides to each other, and will be aimed at outsmarting rivals Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri.

The move in itself is rare as most virtual assistants are known to use data from their own ecosystems and not talk to one another.

Users of Amazon’s Alexa will be able to ask Microsoft’s Cortana to do a range of activities — from booking a meeting to reading work email. And Cortana users will be able to call on Alexa to play music or turn on house lights.

The updated Cortana and Alexa assistants will be available some time “later this year.” Windows 10 users will be able to access Alexa via Cortana on their PC, followed by Android and iOS “in the future.”

Here's what's new and improved in Windows 10 Redstone 4 Build 16353 - MSPoweruser
Here’s the changelog for build 16353:
  • When the Action Center is black (the default option) the “clear all”, “expand”/”collapse”, and “see more” link text will now all use your accent color – making them pop more and improving discoverability.
  • We’ve updated the Action Center to now support a two finger touch gesture to dismiss all notifications. Place two fingers vertically within the Action Center near the edge opposite to the side of your screen. Then slide these fingers towards the side of the screen. You will notice all notification groups following your fingers and then dismissing as you slide your fingers off the side of the screen.
  • We fixed an issue in XAML resulting in text animations appearing slightly blurry in the last flight until the animation had stopped (for example, when loading the main page of Settings).
  • We fixed an issue resulting in the taskbar being unexpectedly thick if you booted up the PC while plugged in to an external monitor with a different DPI.
  • We fixed an issue that caused minimized per-monitor DPI aware windows to miss DPI changes and end up with a mix of DPI scaling upon restoring.
  • We fixed an issue from recent flights where when Slideshow was enabled resuming from sleep a second time might place the Lock screen in a state where it couldn’t be dismissed without pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in an unexpected change in mouse sensitivity in the last flight for PCs using non-default display scaling.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in Asphalt 8 not accepting input in recent flights.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in progress wheels on certain websites in Microsoft Edge unexpectedly moving out of place during their rotation.
  • We fixed an issue where the Windows Hello strings would appear on top of the page when performing a pin reset from the login screen.
