WhatsApp to Stop Working on Nokia Symbian, BlackBerry OS on June 30
If you are among those still using a dated software platform, then it's time you start looking for alternatives of WhatsApp. As promised, WhatsAppwill be ending support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40, and Nokia S60 platforms on June 30. This step comes after the Facebook-owned brand decided in November to delay ending support for the ageing BlackBerry and Nokia software from December 2016 to June 2017. Support for Android 2.2 Froyo, iOS 6, and Windows Phone 7 was ended by WhatsApp in December last year.
The most widely used instant messaging app had last year announced that it will drop support for a few platforms. The company later extended the support until June 2017 after BlackBerry expressed its disappointment with WhatsApp's decision to abandon the platform. WhatsApp gave the reasoning that the dated platforms don't offer the kind of capabilities it needs to expand the app's features in the future.
WhatsApp will continue to support Android 2.3 until 2020
As a side effect of the version fragmentation that Android suffers from, even the latest apps tend to support Android versions a few years old. For example, most of Google's apps nowadays have a minimum requirement of Android 4.1 or 4.2. If you're still stuck on 2.3 Gingerbread, at least you'll get to keep using WhatsApp.
Last year, WhatsApp said it was ending support for a variety of older mobile operating systems, like iOS 6 and Android 2.2 (and below). The blog post announcing this change has been updated, with changed dates for some versions. Now WhatsApp says that Android 2.3.7 and older will continue to work until February 1, 2020.

WhatsApp had earlier announced to drop support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 from June 30, disappointing many customers. But almost 10-days before the decided date of “end-of-life” for its service on the aforementioned platforms, WhatsApp is extending support for a few platforms—BlackBerry 10 (and BlackBerry OS 7+) and Nokia S40 until December 2017, reported CrackBerry.

WhatsApp is giving both Windows Phone 8 users the boot in December
If you’re one of the two users still using Windows Phone 8 and below (not 8.1), and using WhatsApp at that, it may be time to evacuate from the aging smartphone platform or get adapted to a fairly spartan existence.
WhatsApp will be shutting down support for Windows Phone 8 users from December 31 2017, noting that the platform is no longer being actively developed for and that any features which exist at the moment may stop working at any time between now and then.
