WhatsApp Update: You Might be Able to 'Unsend' Chats Soon

Facebook-owned WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature which will allow users to “unsend” messages that they have sent to any of their contacts within a maximum time frame of five minutes. While there is no official confirmation, reports suggests that the new WhatsApp “message unsend” feature is being tested in a new beta version of WhatsApp Web.

In the beta version, WhatsApp has also made it easy for people to format text by providing options like Bold, Italic and Strikethrough. With this, you will no longer need to put asterisks, underscore or tildes to format chats. This update is expected to open to all very soon.

WhatsApp Looks Set to Get 'Change Number' Feature; Live Location Feature Spotted Again

The Change Number feature was found by WhatsApp beta tracker @WABetaInfo in beta version 2.17.130 for Windows Phone or Windows 10 Mobile users, and it enables you to notify all your contacts about the number change at once. The Change Number feature allows you to change your number on WhatsApp without losing your chats and group data, and also lets you notify users about the change. There are three options you can choose for this feature - share the new number with all of your contacts, or only to those contacts you have chats with, or you can also decide not to pass out your new number to any of your contacts at all. This feature will send notifications to all your groups automatically, regardless of which option you choose. Also, the 'Change Number' feature is disabled by default, so you must switch it on when changing your number.

RE: new features of whatsapp

1. Album feature
.

Whatsapp is working on introducing an ‘Album’ feature for its users on Android and iOS, there is no word on the feature coming to Windows Phone. The ‘Album’ feature’ collapses all the photos to make them seem like the ‘Album’ post on Facebook where you can see the first four images at once. All other images are bundled inside with a numbered overlay on the fourth image informing about the number of images bundled inside.

2. Text status feature

.

The second feature that the company is working on is the introduction of ‘Text statuses’ in the ‘Status’ tab. This comes as a welcome addition for users who would not want to post photos on their statuses. Currently, this feature allows you to change the background colour of the status updates and you can reply to the messages as usual.

WhatsApp for Android Gets Separate Video Calling Button, Relocates Attachment Button

WhatsApp has quietly released a new stable update for Android users that brings some tweaks to the UI. Most notable among them is a new video call button and the relocation of the attachment button. You'll be able to see the changes when you receive the latest stable update (v2.17.146), which is rolling out via Google Play.

The new additions to WhatsApp were first
reported earlier in March when they showed up for beta users (v2.17.93). WhatsApp is trying to bring its video calling functionality to the front by giving it a separate icon, which is now placed next to the new dedicated voice calling button on the top right side of the chat. Earlier, the video calling feature was hidden within or grouped with the voice calling button, and one would need to tap twice in order to choose video calling from a pop-up menu.

The video calling button on the top also replaces the attachment button, which is now relocated to the bottom within the text bar. You'll see the little attachment feature right next to the camera icon in the text bar. Notably, the text bar too gets a new look with rounded corners rather than the square-shaped box of old.
