Don't think team management thinking of Rahul for middle order. In past, Virat/Ravi mentioned, they will consider him in top only!

Hopefully they just do that coz if he will play then he would play at no 3 which would cost our team in a very bad way

Can be done after few matches if Rahul doesn't get form.

Playing both will give extra medium pase bowling option and more technical sound batsman in middle order than rahul who may struggle in the middle order imo

Definitely batting in top 3 will suit Rahul more than any other position but any experiment in top 3 at this point may go wrong.
Also IMO Virat is looking to take chance with Rahul considering recent comeback. But playing him in top 3 is not advisable.

Are you comparing IPL performance with ICC Cricket World Cup performance? This is not a normal series where we can take chance with experiment. Remember 2007 world cup, too many experiment costed India badly.
