What is the procedure to disconnect BSNL FTTH + Landline connection ???
We are in 2025 and the BSNL official website still has no documentation on how to surrender their connection is very disappointing. 😪

From my past experience, to disconnect your BSNL FTTH (Fiber broadband + Landline) service, you need to visit the nearest BSNL Exchange Office, submit a written application for disconnection, clear any outstanding dues, and obtain an acknowledgment or receipt (must do - for future reference in case they do not disconnect and keep billing the connection).

I don't know whether their updated selfcare portal has a disconnection option where you can simply raise a disconnection request online. Calling on their customer care is...

I am getting my self rid of this in coming weeks so I can shift to Airtel Fiber as and when it becomes available

In the recent few days the speeds on BSNL is as low as 1-2 mbps and I am unable to do any sort of work due to this issue and hence have to use my mobile data

Even if Airtel OFC takes time i am open to using AirFiber as a temporary arrangement even if the speeds there is not as stable as OFC.

Yes, BSNL FTTH is terrible from every aspects. The sooner you can get rid of it, the better for you. This is exactly why last year I was surprised and asked you why don't you opt for Airtel Fiber which you mentioned to be present at your place but you preferred BSNL over it then.

Over the past few years when i got BSNL FTTH, it was quite good. Even i was suprised seeing the uptime and the speeds. The local vendor too is really nice. But since a year, the issues have gotten bad. There is frequent speed fluctuations every day randomly which lasts for hours.

EVen the local vendor is not that helpful as he was before, dont know what the issue is. Apart form this even the landline service is not working since months.

Back in 2021 when i got BSNL, there was no Airtel Fiber/AirFiber available as a result i had to go with this option. I dont regret going with BSNL, it has been good all these years except for last year and now.

I had a similar experience with surrendering of my MTNL landline connection during Covid first wave. My landline connection was dead and complaints went unserviced coz the line men wouldn't visit due to Covid restrictions. But the bill was being generated every month without even an active connection. So I decided to surrender the connection once and for all and I had to visit the local CSC and manually submit a hand written application and clear the outstanding amount and get the acknowledgement.
I was relieved once it was gone for good.

@Bapun bro, i have decided to take AIrtel AirFiber and disconnect BSNL FTTH. Pls suggest

Eventought when BSNL works fine, i have double thoughts if i shoud just stick to it untill Airtel OFC arrives.

Let's not derail this thread towards offtopic i.e. Airtel Fiber/AirFiber discussions.

You can ask in the relevant thread/section and I will respond there.

Is it possible say to opt for a new FTTH connection if a consumer already has an old disconnected FTTH setup ?

Meaning BSNL just has to issue a new account no/landline no to an existing setup from their end and activate it.
