South Africa add uncapped Simon Harmer to the squad for 3rd Test
Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Tuesday
added Simon Harmer, the off-
spinner, to the Proteas squad for the
third Test to be played against the
West Indies from January 2nd in
Cape Town. The 25-year-old Harmer,
who plays for the Warriors in South
Africa's First-Class competition, has
taken 221 wickets at an average of
32.85.
Harmer, is also a handy batsman and
has amassed 1,841 runs at an
average of 27.41. He will be
competing with Imran Tahir for a
place in the side. However, it has to
be said that Tahir, with his key
weapon, the googly, troubled the
West Indies batsmen in the second
Test in PortElizabeth.
The hosts have already retained the
Sir Vivian Richards Trophy as they
won the first Test convincingly in
Centurion and drew the second game in Port Elizabeth.
