yes. u need a different mail ID for gift card purchase.( not necessary to have amazon account from that email ID)
just purchase the card and apply the gift voucher number to ur wallet .
First i have to open my amazon account and purchase gift card for different email id even if that email id is linked to any amazon account,
And then from that email id i have to take gift voucher number and apply it to my amazon account (from where i have purchased that gift card) and that amount will be added to my wallet.

for eg, u purchase the giftcard for ur another mail id which is may be or may not be associated with any amazon account.
go to that mail id copy the voucher code and add to your account.
gift card amount will be added instantaneously
and cb will be credited as per deadline and T&C
