Walmart acquire 77% stake in Flipkart

Walmart India is poised to lay off 100 senior employees including vice presidents across verticals such as sourcing, agri-business and the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) divisions at the Gurgaon headquarters in a huge cost-cutting exercise. The job cuts were reportedly announced across at a townhall on Friday.

The American retailer in India is grappling with poor sales growth for over a decade after entering the country. The company is also actively considering closing the Mumbai fulfilment centre, its largest warehouse. Plus, the real estate team responsible for new store locations has been disbanded, according to the Economic Times newspaper which cited people aware of the matter.
