Kolkata, Oct. 8:
VODAFONE 3G USERS UP 50% IN BENGAL

Telecom major Vodafone India has posted a nearly 50 per cent growth in the number of 3G subscribers in West Bengal over the last one year. According to Saurav Mukherjee, business head of Kolkata and West Bengal, Vodafone 3G connections account for 4 per cent of the company’s 15.5 million customers in the region. “We have witnessed 50 per cent increase in 3G connections in Kolkata and West Bengal over the last six months of this fiscal, compared with the year-ago period,” Mukherjee told reporters here on Monday. The company announced its Durga Puja offerings on Monday and formally inaugurated the 11 {+t} {+h} edition of Vodafone Aagomoni — a night-long musical extravaganza to be held on October 14. The new Durga Puja offerings this year include bonus cards worth Rs 55 and Rs 38 for cheaper calls and SMS services, respectively. — Our Bureau
