Ahead of the pilgrimage season at Sabarimala, India’s second largest telecom operator, Vodafone India set up an ‘all in one’ outlet at Pamba, which is the base point where Ayyappa pilgrims converge on their way to the holy shrine.

The company in a statement on Friday said that the Vodafone outlet at Pamba will also facilitate recharges for customers of other telecom service providers, through the Vodafone M-Pesa service.

Besides recharge facility, the outlet will also be providing other services such as M-Pesa, Money transfer, DTH – recharges and postpaid bill payments.

“Each year, lakhs of devotees from various parts of the country come to Sabarimala to invoke the blessings of Lord Ayyappan. Through the special Vodafone store at Pamba, Vodafone is making it simple and easy for pilgrims to stay connected and access related recharge, money transfer and bill payment services through Vodafone M-Pesa,” Abhijit Kishore, Business Head - Kerala, Vodafone India .

Vodafone’s free incoming on national roaming plans will ensure that Ayyappa devotees travelling to Sabarimala from Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and other parts of India, remain connected with their loved ones without worrying about roaming tariffs,” he added.

Sabarimala witnesses one an estimated 45–50 million devotees each year during the Mandalam season.

The Vodafone outlet at Pamba was inaugurated by R. Girija, District Collector, Patanamthitta. It will remain functional from November 21, 2016 to the end of Makara Vilakku season, i.e. January 14, 2017.
