Football is still adored in most parts of India. Just come to Bengal and any Northeastern States. See how fans adore football. I am curious to know. How popular is football in South?

In younger generation it is extremely popular.In my generation(90's kids ) it is selectively popular.But States like Kerala have a huge football following cutting across agegroups

Football is getting popularity in many non footballing south states. Normally Kerala has the highest fans when it comes to all India level. I have seen those duplicate kit selling there. Duplicate kits of all clubs and players. Like Messi, Argentina, Barca even ISL clubs. I have never seen ISL kit selling anywhere else. But now both TN and Karnataka are also catching up. Same with eastern states. WB has traditional following. But Odisha and CG are also getting more fans. But North like UP etc are still quite and secluded. Don't know why. I Don't see many fans from that region even in twitter.

One of the main reasons i believe that Football is yet to penetrate the Hindi heartland is poor condition of grounds.I mean it doesn't take much to start playing cricket.I have played Cricket on my school's Basketball court .But you can't play football on the cemented courts or hard dusty grounds.Secondly,there hasn't been a footballing icon from Hindi heartland like say Vijayan or Bhutia or Chettri.All we have is MSD and co. to take inspiration from

Here in rajasthan we don't even have football ground.yesterday my lil cousin was playing with a plastic football .nd after kicking the ball he was screaming one run two run instead of goal
Nd i mentioned before also in north states media and newspaper are useless .in newspapers 90 % cricket +5 % what cricketers kids wife doing
Here on the time of world cup media will question why india is not playing
