It is not just you. Many Uber customers are facing issues in adding their Paytm accounts with the service and are also being charged multiple times. Distressed users took to Twitter to bring to attention the issue in which they are being charged repeatedly for the same trip. For a cash-free riding experience, Uber allows users to use their Paytm wallets to pay for their rides.
Some customers have complained that the service is not allowing them to sync their
Paytm accounts while others are saying that despite having a synced account they have to reauthenticate their account. According to the grievances dating October 20 and earlier, it seems now the problem is being faced by more customers. Despite making the payment, some users are shown an error message reading that their payment method is invalid or in certain cases the amount is deducted but the payment is shown as pending.
One Twitter user, Sukalp Sharma, tweeted that glitches are more frequent these days with the app and it takes up to 5 attempts to reauthenticate Paytm account while hailing the cab service. Despite a number of users trying to bring to attention the issue about Uber and Paytm integration, it seems the company is yet to officially respond to the series of grievances. It is unclear whether the problem lies with the Uber app or Paytm account settings.
If you use Paytm as a method to pay for your Uber rides, it would be advisable to not do that for the time being and use cash or a credit card. We will keep you updated as and when we hear more about it from Uber and Paytm.
