Ask Lenovo users havin jelly belly, kitkat when they bought thr phones. ..

I think it doesn't matter if you are using older android. What matter is new features introduced in newer android available in your custom UI of your phone or not.

I think you should replace 'smartphone manufacturers' with Android smartphone manufacturers' as WP users always get latest OS.

Majorly Windows OS is present on the devices made by Microsoft so to give the latest updates to a windows phone is quite easy, similarly for Nexus devices updates come instantly because they are owned by Google and run on stock android so no cutomisations are needed in source code prepared by google, but for other manufacturers(90% using android) Google provides the source code for latest Android updates but manufacturers have to customize that source code to apply it to their UI on various devices and resolve all bugs that might occur

Sellers work like this only bro, when I first bought Xperia Sola Sony promised an update to Jellybean as it was running on Ice Cream Sandwich but I never got the update while many devices which costed less than my phone got it,sometimes updates also depend on phone's specification,if a manufacturer can't stabilize the new Android version for a particular device that is a year old so it is better to not give the update, otherwise the user would always be facing lot of problems in his device such as lag, sudden shutdown, battery problems etc

You are wrong bro as many android like Nexus series and Android One series phone gets updates directly from Google ;)

I don't mean about Nexus or Android one series, what I want to say is that maximum Android smartphone manufacturers (specially market leader Samsung) don't bother about such update programs.
