The city will have smart poles capable of providing smart solutions for multiple issues, like LED lighting, WIFI system, power management, traffic management, street video surveillance, charging boards for e-rickshaws and other e-vehicles. These poles will also facilitate central announcement systems.
The Varanasi Municipal Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with two companies on Thursday. One smart pole will first be installed in the premises of VMC and based on its performance, decision will be taken for replacing the exiting electric poles with smart poles in the city. Mayor Ramgopal Mohley said these poles will provide multiple facilities and can also help in controlling crimes, with their wireless video surveillance and central announcement systems. tnn
