According to reports, Shashank Manohar is likely to step down as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This development follows a proposed structural revamp of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

In a recent meeting in Dubai, the ICC decided that its chairman will be an independent one and will be elected in a secret ballot in May. The decision was taken following the Board and Committee meetings.

"The election process will be overseen by the ICC's independent Audit Committee Chairman and all present and past ICC directors will be eligible to contest the election. However, candidates can only be nominated by a fellow ICC director who, in turn, will be allowed to provide no more than one nominee. Any nominee with the support of at least two Full Member ICC directors will be put forward as a candidate for election," the ICC release from that meeting had stated.

As per this, Manohar, who took over from N. Srinivasan as ICC's chairman in November 2015, and is also the current BCCI president, will not be eligible for the elections.
