The handset features a 5.3" Super AMOLED HD display, a 1.4 GHz dual core CPU, an 8MP camera and more.
People have still not gotten over the Samsung Galaxy S II which sold like hot cakes when it was first launched in India. Samsung has now almost proved to be a worthy successor or alternative (shall we say?) to the "superphone". At the IFA held in Berlin yesterday, there were a few newsworthy announcements including HTC's two new WP7 Mango handsets called Titan and Radar, with the former featuring a 4.7" display. However, the big announcements from Samsung when the company announced a tablet and a smartphone called the Galaxy Tab 7.7 with Android 3.2 and the 5.3" Galaxy Note.
The Galaxy Note was the center of attention for having the biggest and brightest mobile display on the planet. With the Galaxy Note, Samsung is introducing the new "HD Super AMOLED" display with pixel dimensions of 1280x800. The unique form factor of the handset will also make way to a stylus for taking notes or drawing sketches. The Galaxy Note is 9.65 mm thick and weighs a bulky 178 grams, but that may not be a major problem considering the price tag!.
Also on board is an 8 MP camera capable of recording 1080p videos at 30 fps along with a front-facing 2 MP camera. Samsung has added a much more powerful processor for the Galaxy Note with a 1.4 GHz dual core Exynos chipset, 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of storage with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. If you are worried about the battery consumption of this beast, Samsung has taken care of that, too, with a 2500 mAh battery.
Samsung believes that the Galaxy Note will perfectly bridge the gap between a smartphone and a tablet. Dell tried something similar last year with the 5" Streak, which failed to impress. Therefore, there are doubts about whether Samsung will be able to pull this off. Samsung failed to mention a launch date for the handset. Either way, the Samsung Galaxy Note is a beautiful device and is certainly worth the wait. Take a look at the promo video below for more on the smartphone.
