Samsung today expanded its low-cost phones by launching four new devices that have better specs and run on Android 4.4 KitKat. The new smartphones announced are Galaxy Core II, Galaxy Ace 4, Galaxy Young 2, and Galaxy Star 2. These will be the affordable range of Samsung smartphones and clearly indicate Samsung’s attempt to counter other low-end smartphone makers.

Here’s a quick look at the features of the smartphones:

Galaxy Core II: This ones comes with the leather-like back cover design seen in S5 and has a a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. It has a 4.5-inch display with WVGA resolution with a TFT panel. It has a 2,000mAh battery, 768 MB RAM and 4GB internal memory expandable upto 64GB via microSD. The device also offers a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, while the front camera is VGA. It comes with Samsung’s TouchWiz Essence interface, and runs Android 4.4 Operating System. It is also a dual-SIM smartphone.

Galaxy Ace 4: This is powered by a 1.0 GHz dual-core processor and comes with a 1500mAh battery. It runs on Android 4.4 along with Samsung’s simplified TouchWiz Essence interface and enhanced camera UI. The RAM is 512 MB plus 4GB internal memory that’s expandable upto 64GB via microSD. It has also offers a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, while the front camera is VGA. This has a 4-inch screen with WVGA resolution and TFT.

There’s also an LTE version of the phone with 1GB RAM. The LTE version has 1.2 GHz dual-core processor.

Galaxy Young 2: This smartphone has a 3.5-inch HVGA display. It comes with a 1300mAh battery, 3MP camera. It is powered by a 1.0 GHz single-core processor. It also comes with TouchWiz Essence interface and Android 4.4. The RAM is 512 MB plus 4GB internal memory expandable upto 32GB via microSD.

Galaxy Star 2: The device sports a 1.0GHz single-core processor. It also comes with a 2-megapixal camera and is supported by a 1,300mAh battery. It has 3.5-inch HVGA display and the RAM is 512 MB plus 4GB internal memory expandable upto 32GB via microSD. The device also runs Android 4.4 Kitkat.
