Rumours of the Samsung Galaxy III are back in the news with various tech sites reporting that the next Galaxy smartphone could feature a quad-core processor made by Samsung itself. The chip is speculated to be a new Exynos processor, called the Exynos 4412. Rumours stem from the codes spotted in the Linux Kernel archives, which also hint that the new processor is ARM Cortex A9-based quad-core.
Androidandme.com, meanwhile, in its report claims that Samsung has already lined up several devices for early 2012 that will “blow minds” and were a “big step past the Galaxy Nexus class in every way”. However, there's no word on whether the new processor will have 5th core for low-power tasks like the Tegra 3, but it is expected to run at 1.5 GHz clock speed. The Samsung Galaxy S III was previously rumoured to come with a dual-core 1.8GHz Exynos 4212 processor.
If reports are to be believed, Samsung's Galaxy S III could be launched early next year. The rumoured device is supposed to feature Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, 1GB of RAM and 4.6-inch of Amoled display with 1280x720 resolution. Other notable features of the Galaxy S III include 12MP camera and support for Near Field Connectivity.
The Androidandme report further claims that the new handset will come with a better GPU, which is likely to give five times better performance as compared to Mali graphics processor. The Galaxy S III is expected to feature flexible OLEDs as well.
Samsung has evolved as the leading smartphone company after the gigantic success of its Samsung Galaxy S II. It recently unveiled Galaxy Nexus, the first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-running smartphone. The Galaxy Nexus also garnered a positive response from the users. Samsung must be having high hopes from its Galaxy S III. The rumours of the Galaxy S III sporting quad-core processor comes days after Nvidia launched its quad-core Tegra 3 chipset, codenamed Kal-El, which is slated to arrive in the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime later this month.
