He went on to explain in the video that he ordered two bananas while he was in the gym of the hotel. However, he got his bananas and a shock when he returned to his room. The bill of Rs 442.50, including GST, listed the bananas as ‘Fruit Platter’. The actor said the bananas are “just too good for me”.

Chandigarh: The public relations nightmare for a five-star hotel in Chandigarh, peeled for trying to charge actor Rahul Bose Rs 442 for two bananas, refuses to died down.
Tax authorities have fined JW Marriott Rs 25,000 for violating regulation by collecting tax on an exempted item, news agency ANI reported on Saturday.

Glad government has taken action.

a 6rs banana was being charged absurdly.

They haven't taken action on the hotel for the absurd pricing of the banana. Instead the taxation dept have levied fine for charging tax on an exempted item. Govt. not worried about the 375₹ for 2 bananas but the 60 odd rupees charged as tax. 🤷🤷

Now, Rahul Bose reaction be like 👇

Noteworthy to think - If I order a fruit plate in any restaurant, should it be exempt from GST? Did we ever bother to check this w.r.t unprocessed foods that we may be getting at restaurants?

:explode:these 5 star owners shud be slapped on their faces..

tea costs rs. 150 - 450 in such 5 star hotels....

Is it a diamond tea or what !! :damn:
Water itself costs 70 rupees in some 3 star hotels. Print price is just 20 rupees though. If you ask they say GST and hotel charges as if they are doing purification of it in between!!!
