Reliance Digital has launched yet another entry-level smartphone under its LYF brand. Called LYF F8, the smartphone is priced at Rs 4,199 and is currently listed on the company’s official website. It comes with swift gesture control features allowing users to open the camera app, control music player and access apps without unlocking the lockscreen. Gestures can be assigned as c, e, o, w to four apps. Other gestures include flip to mute and double tap to wake. The smartphone is available in black and blue color options.

The LYF F8 features a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480x854pixels) display with pixel density of 218 ppi and covered with Asahi glass coating. Under the hood runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and paired with Adreno 304 GPU and 1GB of RAM. With 8GB of onboard storage, a microSD card slot for further expansion up to 128GB is also present.
In the photography department, the LYF F8 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and auto-focus. Up front is a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. The smartphone also feature video HDR support, smile detection, gaze detection, blink detection and panorama. To keep things ticking, the smartphone is armed with a 2,000mAh battery which is said to provide up to 8 hours of talktime, 5 hours of HD video playback, audio playback of 28 hours and standby time of 160 hours.
On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The connectivity options on the LYF F8 include dual-SIM support (4G and 2G), 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS and USB 2.0. At its price point, the smartphone will compete with the likes of Micromax Canvas Spark 4G and Xolo Era 4G. Micromax Canvas Spark 4G is priced at Rs 4,999 and features a 5-inch IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood runs a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage. On the photography front, the Micromax Canvas Spark 4G sports a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone has 4G LTE and VoLTE support.
Xolo Era 4G , on the other hand, is priced at Rs 4,444 and features a 5-inch HD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood, runs a 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It comes with onboard storage of 8GB which is further expandable up to 32GB. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop which is further upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. On the photography front, the Xolo Era 4G sports a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone is powered by a 2,500mAh battery and comes with 4G LTE and VoLTE support.
Although there are other smartphones in the same category in terms of price and specs, but those lack 4G VoLTE support and come only with 4G LTE support.
