In I/O 2018, Google has announced Google Duplex, a Google Assistant feature which automatically calls on behalf of user to do simple tasks like Reservations, etc.
New York Times reported that 25% of the times it was actually a human who answered the call instead of an AI bot. While about 15% of Google Duplex phone calls are answered by an A.I. but then have a human intervene to take over due to various reasons. In fact, all Duplex calls are monitored by real humans
