I have been absorbing the reaction for so long now, and all I can say is that I am lucky to be able to have witnessed one of the greatest finals ever played. And I am SO elated that it is finally Messi who has got his ultimate dream. Mbappé, mind you, gave him the fight of his life, with a hattrick of his own, and nearly ensured that France would retain the trophy. Alas, he isn’t getting a birthday gift. But I could not be happier, and many Indians and Bangladeshis and people all over the world will be on top of the world with this Argentine victory. And let’s not forget Martinez, Di Maria, Mac Allister and everyone else.
Right now I am playing We are One (Ole Ola) from the 2014 World Cup, which I think is on par with Waka Waka as the greatest football song ever, perhaps even better.
