Following over two days of service outage, the
Paytm app for iOS has been updated and rolled
back to the App Store. Since December 20, iOS
users of the app complained about issues that
would neither show their account balance nor be
able to make any transactions. As promised by the
company, the app is now back following a critical
bug fix. In a post on Medium, the company
acknowledged that the iOS users of the service
were facing glitches and assured the users that
their wallet balance will be safe and reflect as
soon as the app is updated.
When asked what exactly led to the outage, the
company first attributed the technical glitch to
the surge in user traffic post demonetization.
Yesterday, the Paytm app disappeared from the
Apple App Store and the company was prompt to
issue a notice saying there was a bug which led to
the inconvenience. Deepak Abbot, SVP Paytm,
posted a tweet asking users to update the app.
If you are an iOS user, you are recommended to
update the Paytm app to its latest version 5.8.2.
Post the update, the older balance of the wallet
should reflect properly and one should also be able
to do transactions as before.
Interestingly, the App Store no longer shows the
Paytm Seller app which is the e-wallet service’s
second app for marketplace sellers. The app allows
users to become a merchant and sell or buy
products online. Although the app can work as a
standalone virtual place for selling and buying, if
someone wants to accept payments through
Paytm, they need to also install the main Paytm
app. Until now there has been no notification on
whether the disappearing of the second app is
because of the restoration process underway for
the main app. However, both the apps are
available on the Google Play Store and are
working fine. BGR India has reached out to Paytm
for comment.
