RE: OxygenOS Open Beta 8 - Nougat for OnePlus 3

OxygenOS Open Beta 9 with Android 7.0 Nougat now available for OnePlus 3

Another OxygenOS Open Beta is now out for the OnePlus 3, the older flagship from smartphone maker OnePlus. The new update addresses the issues of the previous one and has been improved in several key areas.

The same was announced on the official OnePlus forums where a staff member put out a post pointing out the changes and how users can hop aboard the beta train.

The changelog is as follows:

1 Added Expanded Screenshots
2 Shelf Design Optimizations
3 General UI Optimizations
4 DPI Optimizations
5 Battery Performance Optimizations
6 Stability and Performance Optimizations
7 General bug fixes

Users who have already jumped on to the Beta software, will get the update as via an OTA package. For those who are new, and would like to try out the same, you will need to flash the build via an ADB sideload.

The staff member also pointed out that the Beta software roll out is a limited time program, so the same could be disabled at time once the software team has received enough feedback.
A point to note is that the Beta software is currently only available for the OnePlus 3 and not the new OnePlus 3T model which was launched in India a few days ago.

OxygenOS Open Beta 9 with Android 7.0 Nougat now available for OnePlus 3 Tech2 Mobile

OnePlus launched the OnePlus 3T, just five months after having launched the OnePlus 3. The new smartphone comes with improved specifications and features over its predecessor. Today, OnePlus 3T received its first software update, but unfortunately it was not the expected Android Nougat update. Instead, the update is OxygenOS 3.5.4 which is still based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The OnePlus 3, on the other hand, has also received its second open beta build of Android 7.0 Nougat. It is worth noting that the company has promised Nougat update on both its smartphones by the end of this month.

OnePlus in its forum explains that the OxygenOS 3.5.4 update is an incremental roll-out and specified the different changes that come with this build. The latest update brings with it optimized battery saving mode and under which GPS and Orientation Preferences will be restored when this mode is turned on. More changes include fixing the flashlight usability issue in WhatsApp, increasing system stability and implementing various bug fixes. OnePlus mentions that this OTA update being an incremental one, will reach only “a small percentage of users today” and a broader rollout will begin in a few days.

The company has also released the second beta build of Android 7.0 Nougat for the OnePlus 3 . Though the OnePlus 3T doesn’t get this beta build, OnePlus has promised that both smartphones should be getting the latest OS towards the end of this month. Contrary to OnePlus fans, the company considers the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T “to be two versions of the same phone”, and hence is picking the same Android Nougat update schedule for both the smartphones.

OnePlus 3T specifications

The OnePlus 3T smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Optic AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection on top. At the heart of the smartphone runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.35GHz and paired with 6GB of RAM. The smartphone comes in two storage variants of 64GB and 128GB, both with 6GB of RAM.

In the photography department, the OnePlus 3T sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX 298 image sensor, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF support, and 4K video recording capabilities. Up front, the smartphone houses a 16-megapixel fixed-focus selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording capabilities.

The OnePlus 3T is powered with a 3,400mAh battery along with the company’s Dash Charge technology. For connectivity, the smartphone comes with options like dual-SIM support (nano slots), 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS. There is also a fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button up front, and an Alert Slider on the side.

The OnePlus 3T has been launched in India as well, and has gone on sale via Amazon India. The 64GB variant is priced at Rs 29,999, while the 128GB variant is priced at Rs 34,999.

OnePlus 3T gets OxygenOS 3.5.4 update based on Android Marshmallow

OnePlus has announced the launch of Oxygen 3.5.5 update for the users using OnePlus 2. This is the first update in quite some time for OnePlus 2 users who were demanding updates for the device after a number of updates for OnePlus 3. The latest update brings some features to the smartphone that were previously missing.

The most significant addition that the company is rolling out is VoLTE functionality for select carriers along with other smaller updates like App Lock, Battery Saving, Gaming Mode, Shelf optimisations and updated OxygenOS UI. This comes along with updated interface and UI for the Clock app in addition to the December 1, 2016, Android Security Patch Level. The full changelog for the update is detailed below.

Enabled VoLTE functionality for select carriers
Added App Lock

Added Battery Saving Mode ( Settings > Battery > More )

Added Gaming Mode ( Settings > Developer Options )

Added Additional Options for the Alert Slider.

Redesign of the Volume Adjustment Bar

Shelf Optimizations

Updated OxygenOS UI

Updated Interface and UI of the Clock app

Updated Android Security Patch Level to 1/12/16

Increased System Stability

General Bug Fixes

One important thing to note is that the update will replace Calculator, Clock and Messages from the exisiting OS version. However, you can install these apps from Google Play Store. The company further noted that this update would restore some settings to default after the upgrade which includes device name, ringtones, status bar battery indication and accent colours of the device. The post also detailed that the users may face issues with Wi-Fi, Network and Fingerprint if they attempt to roll back to OxygenOS 3.1.0.

OnePlus has put together a flashing guide for the downgrade from OxygenOS 3.5.5 to 3.1.0 along with the unique build that is required to carry forward the process. The company has also added a sheet where the users can give feedback on the UI/UX . Another thing to note is that the update will be rolled out in a staged manner and OnePlus 2 users will receive the software through an incremental OTA update. The company is expected to release the stable version of Android Nougat 7.0 for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T before the end of the year as promised by the company.

Good news for old oneplus users. This was long awaited update for them.

OnePlus has just released Open Beta 10 for OnePlus 3 users . Open Beta 10 is the third Android Nougat based version that the company has launched in less than a month after launching Open Beta 8 on 30 November. According to OnePlus Staff member Tony L, the company has optimised the system after taking feedback into account from OxygenOS Open Beta 9 .

OTA Update for Open Beta 9 users

The update is rolling out as an OTA for OxygenOS Open Beta 9 users while the users on OxygenOS 3.2.8 can follow our guide to install the beta version. The company has fixed the lock screen clock bug, added data saver and streamlined various aspects of the system.
The detailed changelog of the changes and fixes is given below.

Added Data Saver

Fixed Lock Screen clock bug in Portrait Mode

Fixed issue of reverting to Default Theme after reboot

Optimised fingerprint unlocking speed

Optimised the quality of Expanded Screenshot
Optimized Wi-Fi performance

Optimised system performance and battery consumption

OnePlus has been releasing new Beta updates with a tremendous speed after streamlining OxygenOS and HydrogenOS code base. The company has revamped its OxygenOS Beta system which has ensured that the company is releasing a new beta build for the public to test every two weeks.

The company promised that it will launch stable Android Nougat 7.0 based OxygenOS update before the year ends. However, that seems highly unlikely now as it will take some time for the company to collect feedback from Open Beta 10 users and incorporate the changes in the OS, internally test and ensure a speedy rollout to the public. There is no information on any Open Beta version for OnePlus 3T users so they will have to be content with the stable Android Marshmallow based OS that launched with their smartphones.

When we are expecting Nougat stable build, they are still releasing the Beta ones.. It's ok, as long as OP3 and OP3T gets the stable Nougat update at the same time.

OnePlus 2 Users Start Receiving Fix for Network Drop Issue With OxygenOS 3.5.6 Update...

Last week, OnePlus rolled out the OxygenOS 3.5.5 update based on Marshmallow last week to all OnePlus 2 users, but pulled it back after many users started complaining of network issues. Users said that their network was dropping continually, and claimed that installing the update introduced the issue. OnePlus has now apparently fixed the issue, and has begun rolling the patch out with OxygenOS 3.5.6 update to all OnePlus 2 users.
OnePlus 2 users are now receiving the OxygenOS 3.5.6 update over-the-air (OTA). The company has said that it is an "incremental rollout", hence users will receive the update in phases over the next few days. This update claims to fix the 'persistent network drops' that users complained about.
Major chunk of complaints were from owners on Airtel or Reliance Jio networks in India. The issue only cropped up once the owner started using mobile data, but on Wi-Fi the device performed normally. We recommend that you update your device through a strong Wi-Fi connection and have sufficient battery on your smartphone.
The company has also started rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users worldwide. The Android 7.0 Nougat-based OxygenOS 4.0 update is being pushed out over-the-air and will reach all users over the coming days. The company is again calling it an "incremental rollout", implying that it will roll out in batches, and only a few users will receive it on the first day, while others should receive it over the course of the next few days. Alongside, OnePlus has also announced the release of Open Beta 1 for OnePlus 3T users.
