[Not True] Netflix may cancel 90% of upcoming Indian original series and movies

I think Netflix India is getting what it deserves. Despite slashing prices, acquiring so many new movies and launching a number of shows, it is no wonder that it has utterly failed to increase subscribers in India. It will be sad if nice offbeat and deserving shows such as Masaba Masaba, which were originally supposed to have a Season 2, are scrapped. But it is definitely telling that its biggest global rival Amazon Prime Video has been so successful in India, whereas Netflix is not.
Netflix is apparently in the process of dropping 90% of its upcoming slate of Indian web series and movies. Word is that Netflix India now wants to try a newer, more commercial approach to its content, diverging from the serious, dark, artistic path it was traversing till now in a bid to entice viewers, and as most of what's on its slate falls in the former category, the OTT platform is supposedly scrapping a large chunk of that content.

Edit by team:

Netflix has informed that the above shared news is false.

Their official quote reads, "This story is untrue. Some of our upcoming titles include Anil Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor starrer, Thar, Vishal Bhardwaj's Khufiya and the returning seasons of Delhi Crime, Masaba Masaba, She and many more."

The company further added- “In our shareholder letter, it was mentioned that - We’re making good progress in APAC where we are seeing nice growth in a variety of markets including Japan, India, Philippines, Thailand and Taiwan.”

For those people Netflix can launch a Platinum tier at ₹2,000 per month. That is more in line with what US subscribers pay!

Sacred Games, Delhi Crime, Aranyak, Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhen, House of Secrets, Decoupled, Kota Factory, Selection Day are the only good Indian shows I remember Netflix has in past 5-6 years, too less considering they put a new Original show almost every alternate week.

Haseen Dilruba, Ludo, Choked, Love per Square Foot, Soni, Raat Akeli Hai, Gunjan Saxena, Minnal Murali, AK vs AK are the only good movies I remember from their original library again in 6 years

They have already fired their top management in India multiple times but have failed time and again, but surprising thing is even Hotstar, Prime Video(in past few months), Sony LIV, Voot Select haven’t given any eye popping show/movies which everyone talks about, atleast Indian content on OTT feels like a trash bag in current scenario, seems screenwriters have stopped aspiring to make good movies/shows
