(Southwest monsoon Rain & Flood updates in Tamilnadu

MeT department says that the depression is currently located between Sri Lanka and North Tamilnadu. It is expected to move towards west/Arabian sea in the next three days.
In so many locations from yesterday, roads caved in including the Madhya Kailash junction.
Lot of flooding in areas such as Tharamani, Velachery, Madipakkam.
In Tharamani, sewage water got mixed with rain water as well.
Chembarambakkam lake is full and the authorities have opened the lake once again. It started yesterday at 5,000 cusecs of water and now releasing at 20,000 + cusecs of water per second. Due to which huge amount of flooding in many areas mainly: Adyar river banks. In Adyar river area alone 2000 households are flooded now.
Due to Adyar river flooding, many areas such as Saidapet, Jafferkhanpet and Kotturpuram areas are highly affected.
Both Adyar river and coovam river areas are alerted with high flood warning and people have been asked to leave their locations immediately.
Adyar, Indira Nagar main road - main metro water pipe broke and water coming out at a high speed at more than 6 ft height.
Tambaram once again got flooded. Last time it was only the Mudichur alone and one ward. But now almost 30 wards of Tambaram is flooded. Perungalathur is also equally flooded.
Raja kilpakkam lake is open and due to which Sembakkam and other surrounding areas flooded.
Madambakkam lake is open and so the surrounding areas flooded now.
Chrompet ward 20 is flooded. Pallavaram and Anakaputhur too on the flooding list.
Pallikaranai also flooded now.
Temporarily Sanatorium, Pallavaram, Chrompet rail route also blocked.
Tambaram - Thiruporur route. Govt buses got submerged.
Other areas such as Kodambakkam, Vadapalani, and T. Nagar are also flooded.
Tambaram airport road is flooded and there is much traffic jam as well.
Poonamalle high road is flooded heavily now and there is much traffic jam
Kattangalathur lake is open and chengalpet is very much flooded.
Chennai - Villupuram high way is one side blocked.
Looks like the damage is more than expected this time

Chennai Rains - Reasoning for heavy rains

I got a message that please explain why it is raining. Normally it will rain for some time and it will go off. why is it raining without break. There is no cyclone nor depression, it is not even Low Pressure area. Then how it is raining so heavily. Why rains did not spread to Andhra. Here it is. 850 mb winds (Winds which flow at height of 1.5 kms). Hope u can grasp something.
Coming to Chennai Rain update -

No good news again. Its going to rain rain rain...no breaks seen in next few hours. I will happy if i break that good news of when rains will stop to the people of Chennai. Sadly, not in this update.
Kattankolathur (beyond Tambaram near SRM University) has got 85 mm rainfall till 8.30 am today and after that 411 mm. Total is 496 mm in less than 24 hrs. This must the heaviest rains this area has got maybe ever in its history.
