Move over, Samsung Galaxy Gear: Nissan today revealed the NismoWatch — the first smartwatch that connects drivers with their vehicle.
An unlikely addition to the wearable tech space, the car manufacturer is showcasing its concept device at the Frankfurt Motor Show this month, calling it a "fan first" approach to performance.
"Wearable technology is fast becoming the next big thing and we want to take advantage of this innovative technology to make our Nismo Brand more accessible," Nissan Europe spokesman Gareth Dunsmore said in a statement.
The Nismo Watch serves as a sort of companion to competitive drivers, who can use the wristwatch to monitor the efficiency of their vehicle and access performance data, as well as capture their own biometric data via a heart rate monitor.
