Rahul was never good. He never wanted Rahul. Rahul was in contention of captaincy after good 2021 tour of England. Rahul was preferred because Gill wasn't doing well as a opener and Rahul was favorite of Kohli. Rohit never deserved even test spot. Except last ten innings or so, Rohit has done well in test cricket since 2019. Virat hasn't. Yes, Rohit was lackluster as a captain, but whole focus was on ODI WC and that's why we never could win test championship. Selecting same bowlers for tests and ODIs and T20i never helps. Now this series has showed us, we are poor players of spin and Ashwin and Jadeja Magic has gone since two three years. We need to give domestic players a consistent run immediately after BGT. Gill has settled in number three. Pant is as good as it gets. Jaiswal also settled in his spot. Problem is Rohit, Kohli and Sarfaraz spot. Give Rahul extended run in BGT and then decide whether he can continue or not. But for all these players except Rahul, it should be last series whatever maybe the result of BGT. Rohit, Kohli, Ashwin and Jadeja. Maybe Shami as well. He can't play 27WC and next test championship final as well. Pujara played till last years WTC Final. After that decision was taken to move on from them. Hanuma Vihari failed in 2018 tour against Anderson. That's why he was not preferred. And Sri Lanka series he failed miserably. Shreyas was dropped to Rahane come back and after 2021 South Africa series, Mayank Agrawal was dropped for protecting Rahul. Mayank played well if you have seen that series. But Kohli wanted Rahul to be next test captain and Iyer to be next ODI captain when he was removed from captaincy. Then Pandya came back to MI and Rohit was sacked from captaincy. All this has created problems in Indian dressing room. Kohli is not happy with Gill/Suryakumar as well. Overall things are bitter in dressing room. That's why this results. I won't be surprised if only Ashwin, Rohit and Jadeja is dropped after BGT. Rahul will be captain and Iyer will be our ODI captain. But again Pant wants to be captain, so things are going to get worse for next two years. I don't mind seeing 0-5 to Australia and 0-5 to England.
