It's all because start of matches @ 3 AM IST.

All I think is NZ board demanding more $
Coz timing is not the much issue only test & some odi are early morning. See many CPL matches are start timings 3:30 am & 6:30am but still telecasting. So NZ board is failed to negotiate with Indian broadcasters.

DSport has acquired some niche properties so hope they acquire nz cricket rights & gain some popularity

Then why star sports telecasting Australia tour matches when time difference is only 1hr odd.

2hrs. to 2.15hrs difference buddy if we compare with Perth even long 4hrs. difference

I think if Star gets IPL rights then Sony would definitely try to get NZ cricket rights else I have no hope from either star or Sony.. maybe DSport can surprise us!
