I'm glad finally they added first Animax Korea's popular Animated series Banzi's Secret Diary on Sony Liv App. Hope they will also add Anime series in future . When searched Animax shows on app it will then show Animated series in search

It's a good addition. Show has also won award for best animated show in Korea this year!! They already had planned to distribute in 25 countries...

How come Hotstar is not getting Hulu's programming?

It depends on the distribution!

If they are distributed through 20th Television, Hotstar gonna get them else not apart from some ABC studios produtions.

Mostly Hulu originals are not by Disney till last year. They are ramping up inhouse only now. So mostly earlier originals are ending up on Sony Liv or Amazon Prime because of the Sony Pictures Television's distribution deals with small TV studios.

Take arrested development for example, the 4th & 5th seasons are Netflix originals. But it's available only on Hotstar only because Netflix bought the rights to US only. Which gives 20th Television to distribute however it wants rest of the world.

Take Tales of the Loop(Amazon ) and Politician(Netflix ) both are produced by Disney but sold off them to respective streamers exclusively, Disney doesn't have any say in how the content is distributed.
