Manchester United's Nani says he will be back to his best next season and has no intention of warming the bench.

The Portugal international enjoyed an eye-catching first half to the 2010/11 season, adding a goal threat to his obvious creative talents.

He did, however, fade as the campaign wore on and missed out on a starting place for United in their UEFA Champions League final date with Barcelona.

Nani has also seen Sir Alex Ferguson add England playmaker Ashley Young to his ranks this summer, providing added competition for places.
The 24-year-old is ready to meet the challenges which lie ahead, though, and is convinced that he can become a first-team regular again next term.

RESPECT THAT

"Last season I played more games than ever at United," said the winger.

"That's why, maybe, in the last games I didn't look the same as in the first games.

"It was boring not playing in the Champions League final because you want to play, everyone wants to play.

"Finals are for playing, but the manager makes the decision. He knows who is better for the team and I have to respect that.

"Now I'm on holiday to rest and get my power back. At the start of the season I will be fine to start strong again, start to do what I know."

Nani scored nine goals in 33 Barclays Premier League appearances in 2010/11 - more than he had netted in his three previous campaigns combined.

However he lost momentum towards the end of the season, failing to hit the target in his last 20 appearances for club and country. His final strike came on 12th February against Manchester City.
