Mercury, a player in computer peripherals, has entered the tablet market with the launch of its below Rs 10,000 price point Mercury mTab that comes with a 1.2 GHz 3-core processor. The new tablet is an infotainment device that has Web access, email, videos, music, games, e-books, etc.

It is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and 512MB RAM along with a 4GB inbuilt storage, supports up to 16GB.

mTab has an inbuilt Wi-Fi feature which supports IEEE 802.11b/g. It supports 3G module Internet surfing by using external 3G USB dongle, and would offer free packages as a bundled add-on with the tablet.

With a built-in 1.3MP front camera, the mPad can play videos continuously for four hours, and supports all photo and music formats. It measures 19.3cm X 11.7cm X 1.4cm, has a 7-inch WVGA TFT LCD touch display, G sensor screen rotation for 3D G-games and weighs 400gms.

The Mercury mTab comes at Rs 9,499 with a 1-year warranty, and is available with its authorized distributors.
