Cloud storage service, Mega, now has an iOS application. The app for Apple devices comes around five months after the service released one for Android devices.

Mega’s iOS app has been a long time coming if you consider that it was July when Kim Dotcom, the controversial founder of the service, promised an app for Apple devices. However, the app does bring some goodies along with it to soothe some angry nerves. You will get 50GB of free storage space with the application that is free-to-download.

You will be able to upgrade your storage space and bandwidth quota from within the Mega for iOS app. You can go Mega Pro with a monthly or yearly subscription. The monthly subscription will set you back by $10.99 and the yearly one will cost $119.99. This subscription will entitle you to 500GB of storage space and 1,000GB of bandwidth per month. While you can make this purchase from within the application, Mega says it will allow you more capacity if you purchase from its website.

The Mega for iOS app will allow you to preview and stream supported media files as well as let you send file and folder links directly within the app. An iPad version of the app has been promised by Dotcom again too. Besides, desktop sync clients for Windows, Mac and Linux are pending from Mega too.

Interestingly, Mega’s description on the App Store prominently mentions the terms and conditions for using the service. This includes a strict warning against copyright and proprietary rights violation while using the service. Mega warns that violation of these will lead to users being barred from using their accounts. Looks like the memories of Megaupload are still fresh in Dotcom’s mind.

You can download Mega for iOS for any Apple device running iOS 6 or later from the App Store.

500GB of storage space and 1000GB of bandwidth per month for $119.99 that means after bandwidth data is over, one needs to purchase more bandwidth. Can I use 64GB card instead of 50GB of free cloud storage & save on internet/bandwidth charges?
