Marcus Stoinis leaves IPL 2016 early
Marcus Stoinis became the third Australian from the Kings XI Punjab squad to leave the Indian Premier League 2016 midway through the season. Reports suggest he has gone back home due to "personal unavoidable circumstances".
This development comes on the same day when Glenn Maxwell, his national side teammate, too left for Australia due to a side strain. Earlier, Shaun Marsh was ruled out due to a back injury he picked up in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 19.
In a rather ordinary season for the Kings XI Punjab, Stoinis had stood out as one of the rare bright spots. The towering right-hander scored 146 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 135.18 and picked up eight wickets in seven fixtures. His most notable performances came against Delhi Daredevils in Mohali, when he scored a 44-ball 52 and returned to pick up three key wickets. Stoinis was also instrumental in Kings XI's win over Mumbai Indians in Visakhapatnam, with a superb four-wicket haul.
