Lava Launches Sub-Rs. 5,000 Windows Phone

Lava is the latest to join the Windows Phone bandwagon with the launch of the Iris Win1, priced at Rs. 4,999.

The Lava Iris Win1will be exclusively available via Flipkart starting Thursday. It will come bundled with a free flip cover and a screen guard, according to Lava.

By launching the Iris Win1, Lava has joined domestic handset makers such as Celkon, Karbonn, Micromax, and Xolo, which have already launched Windows Phone handsets in the market. Interestingly, Celkon on Monday unveiledits first Windows Phone, the Win 400, at Rs. 4,979.
The Lava Iris Win1 is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) device and the first smartphone in the company's lineup to run Windows Phone 8.1. It features a 4-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) IPS display and includes sensors such as accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor.

It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon (unspecified chipset) alongside 1GB of RAM. It sports a 5-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash and BSI+ sensor, while it also houses a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Lava Iris Win1 includes 8GB of inbuilt storage which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).

The Iris Win1 packs a 1950mAh battery with no word on talk time and standby time. It comes with GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Micro-USB connectivity options.

Commenting on the launch of Iris Win1, Navin Chawla, Vice President and Head-Product, Lava International Limited said, "We are pleased to add Iris Win1 - Windows powered device in our smartphone portfolio for consumers who are looking for Windows platform.

Win1 will be exclusively launched on Flipkart. Our strong product offering coupled with Flipkart's exceptional service, we are hopeful to delight our online customers."
