New Delhi, Jun 21: One of the biggest and crucial decisions is to be taken by the joint committee Lokpal panel during its last and final meeting. Quite co-incidentally, the decision will be taken on the longest day of the year, Tuesday, Jun 21.

The previous meeting between the civil society members and the government representatives on Jun 20 discussed some major issues and fortunately consensus arrived at some of the issues. Though, the panel members claimed that all key points of deadlock remain and two new points have emerged to extend the fuss between Anna Hazare's team and Pranab Mukherjee's team.

Announcing the panel's decision to table a single Lokpal draft before the union cabinet, telecom minister and one of the members in the panel, Kapil Sibal said, "Both sides feel we should move towards a consensus... in areas of divergence, we will formulate a draft in which those areas will be spelled out. So that when the matter goes to the political parties who are to be consulted in July, areas of divergence of opinion and the alternatives are put before political leaders and political parties."

The government seems adamant to submit the final Lokpal draft within its deadline which is Jun 30. However, Anna Hazare continues to remind people about his decision to resume fast-protest from Aug 16 if the government fails to fulfill its promise.

Now, it will be interesting to see if team Anna and the government will be successful to land on a consensus on the longest day or the last meeting too will go in vain.
