Seeking Help Is bittorrent safe?

I am using bittorrent but my antivirus which is quickheal, first alerted me of potential virus in form of adware and asked me to restart pc to fully remove the trojan. upon restarting the pc, quickheal completely removed the bittorrent app.
Now, my question is that is it safe to use bittorrents? is quickheal being too cautious of ads and virus ?

Bittorrent is opensource. Anything shady would've been found easily. Its safe. Antiviruses give false positives to such programs sometimes. Create an exception and enjoy.

Use a torrent client that does not have ads. Old versions don't. For example - uTorrent 2.0.4 or utorrent 2.2.1

It can also be, you might have downloaded bittorrent from a third party source which injected their code to the software which is causing trojan issues.
